The Old Testament states clearly: "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination." (Lev. 18:22) The New Testament uses some blurred language but its negative attitude against homosexuality is doubtless. Apostle Paul said: "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Cor. 6:9-I0) Point of interest: In David's elegy for Saul and his son Jonathan: "I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; You have been very pleasant to me. Your love to me was more wonderful than the love of women." (2 Sa. 1:26) Nevertheless this relationship looks more than a casual one there is no real evidence that David and Jonathan shared a homosexual relationship. Bible@juliantrubin.com |
